The World Energy Council (WEC) is the foremost global, multi-energy organization today. WEC’s mission is
to promote the sustainable supply and use of energy for the greatest benefit of all.
WEC covers all forms of energy, including coal, oil, natural gas, nuclear, hydro and other renewables. It carries out research and studies and produces authoritative reports and analyses, scenarios, case studies, policy & strategy recommendations, medium & long-term energy projections and benchmarking & standards in such areas as market restructuring, energy efficiency, financing energy systems, energy pricing and subsidies, energy poverty, rural energy development, energy and environment, use of new technologies and regional energy integration.
Founded in 1923, WEC is a UN accredited non-commercial, non-governmental organization and has member committees in 95 developed, transitional and developing countries. These committees represent energy producers and providers, energy marketers, energy users, government agencies, decision-makers, policymakers, researchers, academic institutions and environmental organizations.
The Indian Chapter known as World Energy Council-Indian Member Committee (WEC-IMC) is a forum for strategic thinking, networking and action by senior executives in the private and public energy sectors who have a broad interest in national, and global energy issues. WEC-IMC seeks to provide a platform for authoritative sharing of information on Indian energy sector, synergies relevant information with member committees worldwide and facilitate review, research and advocacy of energy sector technology, policy & strategy for ensuring long term sustainability of supply & use of energy
